But here Maitreyi shows a young Mircea as someone I could believe she did fall in love with, however young and inexperienced they both were. I was exhilarated by her single-minded goal of going halfway across the world to confront a European man she hadn't seen or heard from in forty two years, then just as passionately putting pen to paper and thoroughly discrediting his version of their relationship, without fearing the disparity in their "status.
If you want maitreyk read this as an insight into Indian culture it's really interesting and thought-provoking. They were also, as it nanyate out, deeply taken with each other.

Actually, it's funny that right after she says that she won't say that much about her life, as 'Euclid' is the hero here, there is about half a book about her and his name is not even mentioned.
